Well, what a night for the youngesters! With 2 heats declared without swimmers and a number of swimmers moving up an age group,Gloucester showed great determination and team spirit to come away deserved winners at Stechford on Sat night. With Gloucester drawn in lane 1 Emma started us off with a win in the first event which set us on our way.The victories came thick and fast with a few impressive PB s . There were also some notable swims from of our newer team members who really stepped upto the mark.To everyones credit we did not have a single DQ all night ..which should please the coaches !! We had 24 first places and 9 second places .The evening finished off with 3 straight wins in the relays, including a run away victory in the Canon to a deafening noise from our team cheering on the side.Mikey Stalker's fist in the air on the final leg of the 12yr Boys Relay summed up the squads desire and commitment Gloucester ended on 236 points with Kingsbury in second with 213. Jane Seymour congratulated the team on their efforts telling them they had all given 110%. Well done to all those who took part.

At the recent Western County Championships Gloucester City held at Millfield pool swimmers from the club reached the finals and bettered their entry times. The boys team consisted of Jake Michaels,Jack Mason,Craig Munden and Jack Bartman. Swimming in the girls races were Tori Nunn,Holly Whitton,Alice Price,Lucy Robinson and Sally Fitzpatrick. Also competing in the girls Medley and Freestyle relays were Lucy Hepburn,Ely Seymour and Jenny Wells. A big well done to Alice Price,Holly Whitton,Jack Mason for reaching the finals and finishing in the top 8 and also to Sally Fitzpatrick for winning a Bronze medal in the breastroke final. All swimmers were consistently beating their entry times and positions. Highlight of the competition was Holly Whittons 2nd cousin turning up ,Duncan Goodhew(Gold Medal winning swimmer in the 1980 Moscow Olympics )and inviting her for lunch in between her 100m Butterfly heat and final. He gave her lots of good swimming tips but admitted he was never very good at fly!!!! A big thank you to the club coaches and the parents who supported all the team and arrived early so we could have a space to sit and cheered the swimmers throughout the day. Thank you Andy ,Graham and Bernice!!

A team of Gloucester City Swimmers travelled to Millfield School over Bank Holiday week to take part in the South West Region Long Course Championships. The district meet is open to swimmers who have achieved qualifying times since last November and Gloucester City had a large representation with 27 swimmers present. It is also a chance to gain National Q T for the swimmers and Alex Matthews managed to do the double and achieved NQT in the 100 and 200 m Butterfly. This is no easy achievement and a real credit to Alex s commitment and dedication in training over the last year. Alex joins fellow swimmers James and Dan Broady ,Sophie Brown,Jamie Cooke,Paul Endacott,Kirsty Hepburn and Liam Lodge in Sheffield in July. Overall Gloucester swimmers qualified for 21 finals throughout the competition and came away with 2 Gold,3 Silver and 6 Bronze.
