Broady brothers bring home Golds from the Districts!

Millfield was the setting for the British Gas ASA South West Regional Youth Championships held over the May Bank Holiday weekend. A strong team of 22 swimmers qualified to represent the Club, gaining an impressive collection of 2 Gold, 3 Silver & 9 Bronze medals.

Medal winners were:
Dan Broady (16) – 50m Breast (gold) & 100 Breast (bronze)
James Broady (19) – 100m Breast (gold & Senior National qualifier)
Sophie Brown (15) – 50m & 100m Backstroke (silver) and 100m & 200m Butterfly (bronze)
Hannah McCarthy (16) – 200m Freestyle (silver) and 50m & 100m Freestyle (bronze)
Kirsty Hepburn (15) – 200m Backstroke (bronze)
Warren Cannon (16) – 50m Butterfly (bronze)
Tracey Kidner* (19) – 200m Backstroke (bronze)
400m Freestyle Relay – Kirsty, Sophie, Hannah & Rebecca Johnston (bronze) (National qualifier)
400m Medley Relay – Kirsty, Sophie, Emma Fitzpatrick & Hannah (National qualifier)

The following swimmers performed exceptionally well to qualify for the finals:
Emma Fitzpatrick (16) – 50m, 100m & 200m Breaststroke
Rebecca Johnston (16) – 100m & 200m Freestyle
Dan Graaf (15) – 50m & 200m Breaststroke
Georgia Fuller (15) – 200m Freestyle
Liam Lodge (16) – 100m Freestyle
Tom Howells (16) – 200m Butterfly
Tom Grimes (16) – 200m Butterfly

Impressive swims were also given by the following, with the majority producing personal bests:
Aimee Carter (16) – 400 Freestyle & 400m Individual Medley
Victoria Nunn (15) – 100m Freestyle
Scott Howarth (16) – 50m Butterfly, 100m & 200m Freestyle
Jenny Wells (14) – 50m Backstroke
Alex Matthews (17) – 50m Butterfly
Dan Willis (19) – 100m Backstoke
Ben Nunn (16) - 800m & 400m Freestyle
Mark French (19) - 800m Freestyle

These were some exceptional results which saw Gloucester City regularly stepping onto the podium.

Many thanks to Andy and Kris, for their support over this long 3 day meet, and to all the officials, marshalls and parents who helped over the weekend.

It’s now back to the pool to start hard training in preparation for those who have qualified for National Championships in August.
